Description
5-Tier Small Wooden Window Plant Shelf
Proportioned to sit neatly on a windowsill, this small five-tier shelf is made from solid wood that has been lightly sanded and sealed with a clear, water-repellent lacquer. The compact footprint means it occupies only a modest portion of the sill, leaving room on either side for a curtain hem or a small watering can. The five tiers ascend in a steep staircase, each step wide enough to hold a miniature terracotta pot or a small propagation jar, and the stepped form ensures that every pot receives a share of the light that enters through the glass. The wood’s natural colour remains visible beneath the lacquer, and the grain patterns vary subtly from one unit to the next, a characteristic of genuine solid timber rather than a replicated print. The shelf is assembled by slotting the five platforms into pre-cut notches in the two side panels, then securing them with a few small screws. The process is straightforward and can be managed without specialist tools. The base of each side panel is fitted with a thin cork pad that prevents the shelf from sliding on a painted or tiled sill and cushions the wood against any residual condensation. When the window needs cleaning, the shelf can be lifted away easily and replaced afterwards. To maintain the wood, dust the surfaces with a dry cloth and wipe away any water that spills during watering. Over time, the pale timber may acquire a gentle, honeyed tone, particularly if it is exposed to regular sunlight, and this natural ageing is part of the material’s character. The shelf can also be used to display small succulents, air plants, or a collection of seashells, and its light, open frame does not obstruct the view through the window.
