Description
8-Tier Vintage Wood Corner Plant Shelf
This tall corner shelf is an eight-tier display solution that turns an empty corner into a lush, vertical garden. The vintage wood finish is achieved through a careful multi-step process that imbues the timber with the character of a well-preserved heirloom, without weakening the structural fibres or introducing artificial-looking uniformity. Each tier is a solid wood panel, cut to fit precisely into the corner angle, supported by solid wood side rails that run the full height of the piece.
The design prioritises stability through a wide, triangular footprint and a back panel that ties the two wall-facing sides together. This panel is crafted from the same wood as the shelves and contributes significantly to the unit’s resistance to racking forces. The shelves are fixed at regular intervals, offering ample vertical clearance for plants of varying statures, from compact African violets to taller, upright sansevierias. The open front allows light to flood the shelves from multiple directions, encouraging even growth and making it easy to tend to each plant without having to remove it from its position.
The shelf arrives flat-packed with all necessary hardware and a detailed assembly manual. The recommended sequence is to build the side frames first, then attach the shelves and back panel, finally squaring the unit before tightening all fixings. Once assembled, it stands ready to accommodate a diverse collection of plants, books, or decorative objects. The timber’s natural insulating properties also help to buffer the root zones of plants against rapid temperature swings that can occur near poorly sealed windows, contributing to a more consistent microclimate for sensitive specimens.
